With Nevada and Pennsylvania officially be called for Biden today, the election is over, Joe Biden will be the 46th President of the United States. Although Trump is pushing multiple legal battles right now, it is nice to have some closure on a race that dragged out for a few long days.
For the left, it is nice to get Trump out of office and it is fine to celebrate for a few days but we still lots of hard work in front of us. We all know Joe Biden’s history and while, yes, he is objectively better than Trump on a lot of issues he still isn’t ideal.
It’s important we don’t get complacent with Biden in office, we must call him out when deserved just like we did with Trump. Left policies did really well on election day, there is proof our ideas really resonate with most Americans so we have to keep pushing against the establishment Democrats.
However, I don’t want to spend this time after victory tearing Biden down, it is good we got him in office over Trump and I am excited to see what he will get done.
I expect Biden to immediately get us back into the Paris agreement which I will be ecstatic with. The Paris agreement has issues, yes, but being isolationist is a huge mistake, we have to keep in contact with the rest of the world and keep pushing for solutions to protect our beautiful planet.
The other thing I fully expect Biden to do is get us back into the Iran deal. With the way Trump was handling Iran we were heading for another potential pointless war and I am expecting and hoping Biden will deescalated tensions there.
This is a time to celebrate but it is important we still keep our goals in mind, I have faith in us and with Biden in office things become a little bit easier.
